Pawan Faris is a Researcher in Physiology at the Dep. of Brain and Behavior Science, University of Pavia. She was born in 1985 in Erbil city, Kurdistan region of Iraq. She obtained PhD in Molecular Physiology in 2019 at Salahaddin University, Erbil, Iraq in collaboration with the Dep. of Biology and Biotechnology “L. Spallanzani”, University of Pavia, focusing on Calcium signaling and membrane proteins in variety of physio and pathological conditions. During her PhD she was awarded a MAECI fellow grant provided by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affair. Subsequently, she was appointed as a research fellow at University Pavia to continue her research after the PhD up to 2022. Subsequently, she worked as a researcher at the Istituto Auxologico in Milan. In 2008, she was awarded a BSc in Biology then a master degree (2015) in Blood Physiology from Salahaddin University. Technically, she is highly skilled in multiple physiological and molecular based-techniques, including intracellular and extracellular imaging techniques and Molecular and Biochemical assays.
Currently, Dr. Faris is focusing on understanding the hidden role of the cerebellum in Physio and Pathological conditions, particularly in Schizophrenia, Ataxia, and Autism mouse models, by challenging multiscale recording techniques such as, 3D HD Microelectrode Array (MEA) and Two-Photon Laser Microscopy in the framework of multiscale integrated approach to the study of the nervous system in health and disease (MNESYS) project.
